A2.1: The IFAS Summer Course is open to individuals aged 18-25, including both EU and overseas-EU students passionate about filmmaking. No previous experience is required, we only ask for a proof of your English proficiency and a bucket of enthusiasm to learn how to make cinema.
A2.2: The IFAS One-Year Program is open to individuals aged 18-25, including both EU and overseas-EU students passionate about filmmaking. We require high school diploma or equivalent and proof of English proficiency. No previous professional experience is required. This is a graduate level course.
A2.3: The IFAS Five-Months Professional Program is open to individuals aged 18-35, including both EU and overseas-EU students passionate about filmmaking. This is a master level course. We require experience in the filmmaking or theatre industry or completed studies in relevant fields. Each application will be evaluated separately to ensure the right level of experience of the applicants. English proficiency is required.

A4: EU students do not require a visa to attend the summer school in Lucca, Tuscany. They can travel and study freely within the European Union.

A5: Overseas students may need to apply for a tourist visa to attend the Summer School, while student visa is required for the One-Year and Five-Month courses. A6: You can apply by completing the online application form available on our official website. Once the form is completed, we require the payment of the first instalment (€1000 or €2000 depending on the selected course) to secure your spot. You will receive written confirmation of your acceptance and the next steps shortly.
Q7: Can I apply for a scholarship?
A7: Yes, scholarships are available for all IFAS courses. Indicate your interest on the application form, you will be provided with further details once your application is processed.
Q8: Is there an application fee?
A8: There is no separate application fee. We require the first instalment of the tuition fee to be paid at the time of application to secure your spot. This is refundable within 15 day of the submission date of your application.
Program Details:
Q9: What is the duration of the IFAS courses?
A9.1: The summer school spans one month, with two available slots: June 17th to July 14th or July 15th to August 11th.
A9.2: The One-Year course starts on the first week of November 2025 and completes in June 2026 with the event of Giornata del Cinema usually organised on the 2nd weekend of June.
A9.3: The Five-Month Professional Course runs from June 2025 to October 2025.
Q10: What will I learn during the Intensive Film and Acting Course?
A10: All courses cover a comprehensive program in filmmaking and/or acting on different levels. Participants will create, shoot, edit, and deliver movies with expert mentorship and plenty of hands-on experience.

A11: Yes, participants have the option to follow an Italian class to enhance their language skills.

*Accommodation is optional. If requested, students be entitled to stay for the entire duration of their course at Convictus, in the centre of Lucca, 15 minutes walking distance from the Campus. Convictus is the official parter of Accademia Cinema Toscana, providing accommodation for most of the Academy's students during and outside the scholar year. It provides private rooms and shared community spaces.
**The 'First settlement' makes part of the tuition fee, its payment is required to secure the students place at the course. It is not an additional fee. For example: To book your place at the IFAS Summer Course, we require that you make the payment of €1000 when you submit your application. The remaining tuition fee you will have to pay will be €2500.
Q13: What are the payment therms?
A13.: The first instalment of the tuition fee is due at the time of submitting your application. The remaining tuition and accommodation fee has to be paid by 30 days prior to your course starting date. If you miss the completion of the full payment by the requested date your place at the course won't be ensured and the First Instalment cannot be refunded.
Q14: What is your cancellation Policy?
A14.: The first instalment of the tuition fee is fully refundable within 15 days of the application date or in case of Visa refusal. (In this case we require official proof). The remaining fee is due 30 days prior to your course starting date. Cancellation after this date is subject to personal evaluation. As a rule of thumb, you can calculate with a 50% refund of the total tuition fee.
